SCOPE: Songinokhairkhan and Chingeltei districts

GOAL: The purpose of the survey is to study and analyze the residents of Songinokhairkhan district and Chingeltei district of Ulaanbaatar city about the garbage conditions in their areas, method of disposal of households’ waste, and garbage collection fees.

MAIN FINDINGS: This study was conducted within the framework of the project implemented in our country between 2019 and 2023 with the funding of the Swiss Development Agency and aims to create an effective and accessible system for the management of waste collection and transportation in households. The survey determined the attitude of residents of the target districts towards waste and the opinion of residents on issues related to waste.

According to the quantitative research, at least half of the households living in the above-mentioned districts classify their waste, and among them, the maximum classification category is 4, and the minimum is 2. Furthermore, citizens who don't sort their garbage want to sort their garbage to a certain extent, but they don't sort it because they don't have enough knowledge and information about how. The results of the research showed that residents need information about the proper sorting of waste and where and how the waste is disposed of.
